The Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) works hand in hand with the Community through the Soil and Water Conservation District to provide voluntary conservation planning and implementation to address local natural resource concerns on private lands.

NRCS also provides technical and financial assistance through the US Department of Agriculture's Farm Bill. Farm Bill Activiteis in Kona include:

Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQUIP): Provides financial and Technical assistance to address natural resource concerns on agricultural lands.

Grassland Reserves Program (GRP): Helps landowners and operators restore and protect grassland.

Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program (WHIP): Provides financial incentives to restore, enhance, or develop habitat for fish and wildlife on private lands.
